What do we have for breakfast in India?

Indian people usually have breakfast at 9.00 o’clock in the morning.    

Indian cuisine is very varied. For this reason, people can eat different dishes* at breakfast time. Indian people eat spicy *breakfasts. 


Eggs scrambled* with spices, potatoes, and onions are popular in the morning as well as fresh fruits and yogurt.

One of the most popular breakfast dishes* (called khichri) is made with a mixture of rice, lentils and spices.

Other popular dishes are: appam (thin, crepe-like rice pancakes which are often filled with spiced meat or potatoes and vegetables).

Puttu
Idi-appam (rice noodles eaten with sweet coconut milk) and puttu (crushed rice and coconut which is accompanied with bananas and milk). These breakfast dishes are always accompanied with bread and omelettes.

Beverage* at breakfast time is tea and in the south of India coffee is also a popular drink.
